The BEST Chocolate Chip Cookies


1/2 Cup butter (softened)

1/2 Cup Shortening

1 Cup Brown Sugar (packed)

12 Cup Sugar

2 eggs

1-1/2 tsp. vanilla

2-1/2 cup flour

1 tsp. baking soda

1 bag of chocolate chips

1/2 tsp. salt


Pre- heat oven to 350 degrees.  Mix wed ingredients and then add dry ingredients.  Use cookie scoop to get large balls of dough.  Roll with hands to smooth and place on greased cookie sheet.  Bake for 6 to 8 minutes or until lightly browned.  Cool on cooling rack.  Enjoy!!!

Cheryl Cooks French Bread

1-1/2 Cup warm water

2 TBS yeast

3 TBS sugar

*Allow to bubble 

In separate bowl mix:

2 Cups warm water 

1 TBS Salt

2-3 TBS Vinegar

1/3 Cup shortening or olive oil

3 Cups flour


Add yeast mixture.  Add 3 Cups more flour.  Knead 8 minutes.  Rise 1 hour in warm oven with water.  Punch down and roll into a rectangle.  Loosely roll dough and cut into 2 or 3 sections.  Brush with beaten egg or egg whites ( this gives you a beautiful brown crust)  Let rise another 30 minutes and bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes.
